The educational system is greatly influenced by the Montessori Method of teaching and learning and has experienced a recent resurgence in the past few decades.
Intially the method was met with acceptance but followed by a dynamic interplay of culture, politics and personality that influenced education, and childhood development, it is now supported with empirical evidence that has meant greater acceptance and enthusiasm. This enthusiansim is wide spread and becoming more mainstream in pedagogical culture based on the success of the "scientific" central ideas of Montessori education. The history of the Montessori movement has evolved since it's introduction, but remains an alternative to conventional public schooling true to its tradition as a distinctive, progressive educational approach.
